How She got here! (Photos at the end!)
I was scheduled for a repeat C-Section on April 16th at 7:30 am. I started having contractions on Monday night, the 11th right around dinner time!
Finally, about 11pm I called the practice - the on-call nurse called me back within seconds and after I told her what was up she said we should get to the hospital.
We took Bailey to Miss Dianne's house for the night & got to the hospital about 11:45pm. I was contracting every 3 minutes. My C-Section was scheduled for 6:00am.
Jon left to run home and get my pillows & a few things we had forgotten in our haste. As luck would have it, he got pulled over on the way home! The Sheriff asked why he was driving so fast, Jon told him what was up and the Sheriff said, "ok then you better get moving!!!" LOL!
We may have gotten about an hour of sleep all told...and once 6:00 rolled around, things got interesting.
I walked into the Operating Room and jumped (ok not really) up onto the table and got a spinal - not the best feeling in the world...paralysis,
Jon came in and seemed to be fine for the first 25 minutes. When Dr. Susan was just about to pull Karlynne out, Daddy got sick and had to leave the room. There were more people tending to him than to me at this point.
There were people on the phone calling for a couple more sets of hands outside the OR, I heard the anesthesiologist calling for smelling salts, heard someone call for a bucket....so of course I was worried about him and me and Karlynne.
She was born seconds later and Jon heard her cry from outside...then he came back in - he was so embarrassed!! Poor guy - it just was not his day.
Karlynne was just absolutely fine, and the anesthesiologist walked Jon around the table to see her - he told Jon, "DO NOT Look over here!!!!" but he looked a little (it's like a train wreck, I imagine), he saw a bowl full of blood and a lot of bloody linens on the floor. I think he got a little wobbly but the Anesthesiologist had a good firm grip on Jon. Anyway, he saw Karlynne and got to hold her. They brought her over for me to see her and then I started getting a little pukey...I think I did that with Bailey too...here this little thing lives INSIDE your body for 9 months - it's STRANGE!!! So...I was pukey, but it was a HAPPY pukey and I actually did NOT throw up - just felt like it.
So Jon and Karly went off to the nursery while the docs stitched and stapled me. I spent a while in recovery before going to my room. Jon left to pick up Bailey and none of us saw Karlynne for a long time because she was being monitored for a little breathing noise that turned out to be nothing.
Later on, I found out that poor Jon had actually passed out cold and hit his noggin on the floor out there in the hallway- they had a gurney there for him and everything.
So our precious baby girl, Karlynne Mae was born at 6:30am on April 12th and weighed 8 lbs 7 oz...a mere peanut compared to Miss Bailey (9-12)
Bailey is the best big sister and is absolutely in love with her little sister.
